Frankfurt, 16 January 2025 – At this year’s BrandEx Award, two projects submitted by Atelier Markgraph received the highest award. The ‘DFB-Campus’ project and the EUROBIKE presentation for Riese & Müller were honoured with gold.
At the BrandEx Award 2025, the initiators BlachReport, Messe Dortmund, fwd: Bundesvereinigung Veranstaltungswirtschaft and the Studieninstitut für Kommunikation honoured the best projects of the year in the categories live marketing and brand architecture.
141 submissions from 66 companies took part in the multi-stage application process. At a live jury session on 15 January at BOE INTERNATIONAL in Dortmund, the winning projects were selected by a top-class jury of experts.
Gold for the project ‘DFB-Campus - A scenographic declaration of love to football’
Category: Architecture, Best Brand Architecture
The DFB-Campus in Frankfurt am Main impressively showcases the brand values of the German Football Association(DFB) in terms of space and content over an area of 50,000 square metres. Architecture, design and state-of-the-art media technology merge here to create a unique world of experience that presents both the sporting and social dimensions of the DFB.
A special attention to detail characterises the entire campus with 23 spatial interventions designed and implemented by Atelier Markgraph. From the training zones to the conference rooms and the administration kitchens, visitors can expect numerous highlights, such as the trophy walls made from 31,824 genuine aluminium screw studs.
The DFB-Campus is more than just a functional building; it is a lively place of encounter and inspiration for athletes, fans and employees.
Karim Sabano, Creative Director Atelier Markgraph: ‘The special and challenging aspect of this project was the creation of a territorial identity. With the multitude of measures, we made sure not to fall into uniformity, but to create surprising moments time and again. One of my personal favourites is the ‘diversity wall’ with its dimensions, colour scheme and diversity of images.’
Gold for the EUROBIKE presentation of Riese & Müller
Category: Architecture, Best Stand M (101 to 500 m²)
‘New mobility spaces’ - this was the theme under which premium e-bike manufacturer Riese & Müller presented itself as a pioneer of post-fossil mobility at EUROBIKE in Frankfurt am Main.
A filling station as a scenographic symbol for the possibilities of new mobility – the central idea conceived by Atelier Markgraph is surprising in the context of a bike trade fair and at the same time opens up space for dialogue. The trade fair presentation encourages reflection and motivates people to be part of the mobility of the future themselves. This impulse and its social relevance lend the project a special significance.
Yvonne Gerster, Creative Director at Atelier Markgraph: ‘The intensive examination of the mobility of the future has motivated us to rethink and further develop existing patterns. The filling station gives a surprising impetus to how existing spaces can be revitalised. It creates a place that offers the community impressive product experiences and at the same time space for relaxed dialogue.’
